Chris Marker – the memory of a future ◊ 1 may – 2 august 2026

Is it the most beautiful city in the world? We would like to discover it at dawn, without knowing it, without doubling it with habits and memories. We would like to guess it by the only means of the detectives of novels: the spyglass and the microphone.

Paris is that city where one would like to arrive without memory, where one would like to return after a very long time to find out if the locks always open to the same keys, if there is always, here, the same dosage between light and mist, between aridity and tenderness, if there is always, an owl singing at dusk, a cat who lives on an island and if we still call by their allegory names the Val-de-Grâce, the Golden Gate, the Daybreak…

It’s the most beautiful scenery in the world. In front of him, 8 million Parisians play the play or whistle at it, and it is only they, in the end, who can tell us what Paris is made of in the month of May.

2026 Residencies – Visual Arts
Boris Chouvellon – residency in collaboration with Charpente Cénomane

After the success of the first two classes of the ministerial scheme Artist Residency in Business at the Moulins de Paillard, the Drac Pays de la Loire is renewing its support for the third time. In 2026, Paillard will accompany the visual artist Boris Chouvellon to carry out artistic research at the company Charpente Cénomane, located on the edge of the Bercé forest in Requeil. Launched in January, Boris’ residency highlights the links that are woven between know-how in the arts and heritage. Thanks to this immersion, Boris has the opportunity to meet and follow the expert teams of the staff of Charpente Cénomane. Over the course of the six-month programme, Boris takes his artistic look at the warm and rigorous world of this Sarthe society, where precise gestures, scientific skills, noble materials and human values are combined.

The company Charpente Cénomane, with its 80 employees, manufactures all types of wooden frames and constructions throughout France and abroad: ecological, bio-sourced and respectful of the challenges of climate change. Thanks to the Ministry of Culture’s system, a beautiful collaboration is starting between two Sarthe structures that work for the general interest and that make hospitality and living together central values of their projects.

The Paillard team supports artists who work to have a positive impact on their environments, who are involved in the territory and with the public, as in the context of this artist’s residency in a company. The artist-in-company residency of the Ministry of Culture-Drac of the Pays de la Loire is a scheme governed by the “Art and Worlds of Work” charter, which aims to promote the presence of art in the workplace and the bridges between these worlds.
