La Chaconne du XXe siècle ◊ Alain Moglia – saturday 16 may at 17h
While being part of a cycle of 14 Sequenze for different instruments (voice, flute, trombone, accordion…), violinist Alain Moglia offers us a program around the Sequenza n°8. This major piece of the contemporary repertoire is a perfect example of everything what can be done from baroque music for solo violin; all the virtuosity from Bach to Paganini, the Romantic period is used in this Sequenza.
To illustrate or deepen the path of Luciano Berio, Alain Moglia allows us to an immersion in the repertoire for solo violin: Chaconne by Johann Sebastian Bach, Biber’s Passacaglia, Honegger’s Sonata and Berio’s Sequenza. This program in its is based on the principle of the passacaglia, i.e. a theme or a few recurring notes serving as a support for variations.
During his career, violinist Alain Moglia has played in the greatest orchestras, while by distinguishing himself by his involvement in avant-garde music. Long first concertmaster of the Ensemble intercontemporain, he has had the opportunity to work directly with Luciano Berio.
The first edition of the Sequenze festival is a co-production of La Pelegrina, Ensemble Offrandes and Les Moulins de Paillard. It is supported by the Ministry of Culture-DRAC Pays de la Loire and the Department of Sarthe
Traverser ◊ Chiasme for violin de Jin Xue – saturday 16 may at 19h
Olivier Mingam – violin, Emmanuel Six – sound

In the same way, writing revolves around movement on the one hand (which follows the shape of the violin and sculpts its timbres and textures), and the mass sound on the other (resulting from musical resonances, evolving in parallel with the universe of noises). The violinist makes them interact before reuniting them in a progressive fusion…
